DMT ENTERPRIZES (1995)
I started DMT ENTERPRIZES (a fictious business) back in 1985 when I started teaching Internet to the University Of California, Berkeley staff and professors when the internet first hit the public. I had access to the internet since 1980 via my employment with Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories, and UC campus.
I remember when I first heard the rumor wave go across the UC campus; "have you heard about the 'world wide web'?"... I had already been using the internet for 5 years but it had only been a text based vehicle. Just text... no graphics, no sounds... informative but boring.
When the first Mosaic browser hit the public it was like a lightning bolt across the sky. Suddenly there was colored text and fonts, and graphics and hyperlinks; the world was changed forever. Since I was working at UC at the time, it was part of my job duties to install the browser on staff computers and teach them how to surf for the very first time.
As a result of all the internet buzz, DMT ENTERPRIZES came about and I began creating webpages to advertise my availability to do webpage design work. These are graphics from some of those early pages. They changed rather frequently as the technology advanced, and the constant changing website was a standard for my webpages ever since; always striving to show examples of the newest and best of the cutting/bleeding edge web coding practices.
DMT GALLERY (2002)
When I moved back to Cincinnati, my webpages had changed from being a vehicle to promote my web talents into a vehicle to express my computer graphics and animations that had begun to develop around this time.
These newly evolved pages reflected my work in the form of an art gallery and so became DMTGALLERY.
DMT MIND (2003)
Very quickly, my art expanded into including music, poetry and prose; most of which had begun many years before but only now was considered that it should be included along with my graphic works. Expanding on that further and I felt that everything I experienced should be included. So DMTMIND began its development with the addition of all arts that I experimented with along with thoughts, ideologies, philosophies, theologies, and any other thoughts that were in my head.
DMT UNIVERSE (2007)
Because of a legal dispute over the domain name DMTMIND, I was forced to move to a new webhosting service. For the moment DMTMIND was no longer available to me, so after researching various other domain names I finally came up with DMTUNIVERSE which surprizingly became a vehicle to encompass all the previous DMT pages collectively under a single website. Now instead of only having my mind to fill, suddenly I had a universe to fill and that pleased me.
So here we are today with DMTUNIVERSE and it is sure to change over time as well but I will continue to capture its ever changing style and content within DMTARCHIVES here on this webpage.
Others (various)
These were partial attemts at some designs that I eventually discarded or too quickly became mere experiments that did not make the final webpage. Some of them show some promise but usually it was a matter of the technology moving too quickly beyond the design or I did not have all the software necessary to make the key portions of the pages work. I have since then expanded my software tools to allow me to do more and more designs that are more in line with the technologies of the day.
